A “cool roof” is capable of reflecting most of the energy from the sun, rather than allowing it to penetrate the interior of the building.
The efficiency of a “cool roof” can be measured with the SRI, Solar Reflectance Index. The protective top coat COLODUR Pigmented in white has an SRI value of 105, one of the highest on the market. Likewise, the aliphatic resin of IMPERMAX A, with an SRI of 100, also provides excellent performance as a “cool roof” solution.
Finally, the IMPERMAX A or COLODUR Pigmented white coatings, with high chemical resistance, to the exterior and to UV radiation, allow the surface temperature of the treatment to be reduced, increasing its durability. They also help dramatically lower air conditioning costs during hot summer months. And ultimately mitigate the well-known “Urban Heat Island” effect.
Besides, if photovoltaic panels are installed on top of a roof with this type of treatment, the production of clean energy is multiplied, since the panels will work at a lower temperature.
